Embracing inner terror (2)

The theme of this sculpture is abstract to the extreme. The actual sculpture is visible immediately underneath the human man’s chin …. a dark hollowness, and the man and leopard were sculpted around this hollow, dark space. The sculpture was cast in acrylic resin together with embedded stones from the Braamfontein Spruit in Johannesburg. I painted several lichen and moss spores onto this sculpture, and together with natural aging caused by frequent Graskop rain, this assisted in creating a sculpture that depicts a theme as ancient as man himself.
